Beach Metal Detectors - Metal Detectors for the Beach: Are you looking for a proper metal detector for the beach? If this is the case, there are at least a few things you have to know and decide upon. Number one is to make sure you buy the right metal detector for the beach. Most common metal detectors will work at the beach, but, they have their setbacks. For example, my Minelab X-Terra 305 does fine in the sand, but, it goes a little wacky in the water, even if the coil is waterproof. Therefore, it's pretty important you don't just run for the first metal detector you find. Your research before you buy a detector has a great deal to do with your success of finding treasure. You may also need to decide whether you will be metal detecting in other places besides the beach. On top of that, some beach capable detectors may be "hitter" on targets you may be seeking. Some beach detectors are better for small gold, while others may like coins a little better. Your selection may depend upon whether you use it on freshwater or salt water beaches. What coil(s) you select have everything to do with hundreds of performance variables. As you see there are many variables. You may decide you want an underwater metal detector for deep wading.
Not wanting to speak out of turn, I don't know a whole lot about beach hunting. Like with many sports, your best bet is to see what the pros are using and go for it. Below I have listed a few tried and true models that will not do you wrong. Your quest is to do a little research and find which one is right for you and your hunting environment. Good Luck!
